Elements and Performance Criteria
- Obtain information on the aid project
- Develop a plan for the project in consultation with others
- Ascertain the nature of the project, the issues and the key personnel at the remote location
- Work with other organisations involved in the aid project and clarify chain of command
- Establish clear communication channels as early as possible
- Confirm budget allocations and allowances attached to the project
- Document the permaculture aid and development project as a strategic plan
- Distribute the strategic plan as required
- Obtain resources and confirm logistics for transportation to remote location
- Negotiate material resources, equipment and other needs with the remote community
- Communicate in a culturally sensitive manner at all times and maintain correct communication sequence
- Arrange transportation to remote location with full documentation, procedures and cultural protocols in place
- Monitor transportation phase closely
- Organise human resources and confirm transit and living arrangements, food and supplies for staff
- Document the emergency plan
- Write up the emergency plan with the aims and objectives of the project
- List strategies for achieving the aims
- Allocate personnel and resources to the strategic actions
- Include benchmarks and timeline for operations
- Include processes, procedures and communication lines for adoption by personnel on the ground
- Manage the permaculture aid and development project
- Maintain regular communication with the team on the ground
- Troubleshoot any issues that arise
- Document the roll out of the plan and address any gaps or misunderstandings immediately
- Reduce paperwork and stress for operatives on the ground by simplifying reporting procedures and actioning requests quickly
- De-brief personnel on return, and maintain detailed records of the project
